I'm ba-ack

My first finished piece in how long now? Months, I think it's safe to say. And this wasn't even done just for fun. Figures. >.>

For my AP Art class, I have to put together a portfolio to submit for grading to some place in the middle of the country in order to get my AP credits in the class. I'm sure I'm not going to finish by the deadline, but that's not the point. The point is we have to have breadth and concentration, twelve pieces in each. This is a piece done for my concentration, which is to draw fairly modern (as in, those that have been drawn anywhere from the nineties into the present) comic book characters as Hindu deities. I'm thinking of expanding it to include Japanese comic book characters (and possibly even American and Japanese animated characters) as Egyptian or Greek gods or...something. I don't know. I'm feeling fairly frustrated with my concentration right now, especially after seeing slids of some of the really awesome things people have done in the past. I wish I could switch, but now that the fourth piece is due tomorrow (which is not going to be done, by the by), it's kinda late to switch. Bleh.

Anyways. Sofia Mantega/Wind Dancer from X-men: Academy X as the Hindu goddess Saraswati. I left the headdress off on all of them because I chose not to dress them in the god/goddess's garb, thinking they'd be too irrecognizable if I did. Plus, it's easier.

It's not finished. I'm planning on adding fabric and such to the background to make it look like one of those tiny Hindu pictures. But I still need to finish my other two pieces (and start and finish a fourth), just as far as inking and colouring goes, before I can launch into putting the finishing touches on any one of them. I've still gotta work the details out, too.

Maybe I'll paint/jesso/etc. the background of my next piece BEFORE I draw on it and then draw the...drawing over-top. I think that'd be more interesting, and probably less difficult. Hm.

I need to draw Avatar: The Last Airbender fanart. wtf.
